Term Levy

So far this term we have used the activity fee ($200 yearly) towards Miles Kaukau’s visit ($2.50) and El Grego (the magician – fee TBD). We will keep you updated as to when and how the activity fee is spent over the course of the year.

Road Safety

There have been a few notifications of near-miss accidents before and after school along the roads. If your child walks/scooters/bikes to and from school without an adult, please could you go over road safety rules with them.

Sports Interchange May 11

Every Friday we have a sports interchange. The sports for this term are rugby, soccer, hockey, netball and basketball. We have a go at a different sport each week. Click on the photos to advance through the slideshow.

Week 2 Term 2 (May 4th)

It’s been a busy week here in the Middle Team. The children have settled well back into their routines and we are off to a great start.

Cross Country

A big thank you to all the parents who helped or came to show their support during the cross country on Tuesday. It was fantastic to see how many children opted into the 2 lap championship races this year. Well done to everyone who gave it a go and tried their best! If anyone has any great photos of the country please email them to sheena.d’abreo@fendalton.school.nz so we can put some up on this blog.

Miles Kaukau and Maori Interchange

We had a visit from Miles Kaukau on Wednesday. He taught the children some Maori words, told some interesting stories and even sang with us. Following on from Miles’ visit we will be starting a Maori interchange on Fridays. The children will spend some time each Friday afternoon for the rest of the term doing activities like making and learning poi, kapahaka, making kowhaiwhai panels, te rakau and weaving.

Uniform

On Thursday, members of the administration team came around to classes to do a uniform spot check. Notes went home with children who needed some reminders about wearing correct uniform. Please check the information page here to find out more about correct uniform.

Homework

Homework is sent home every Friday. Please make sure that homework books are brought back to school every Friday.

Jump Jam Teams

The teams have now been selected for years 2/3 and 4/5. It was a difficult process as many children auditioned. Well done to those who tried out and congratulations to those who made the team. Teams are posted outside the classrooms.

Digital Learning Reports

Following our parent teacher meetings at the end of last term, reports will be available from week 5. This term they will be in digital format and available online. Watch this space for further information closer to the time.

ICAS Science date

The ICAS science date was incorrectly listed on Friday’s update. The correct date is June 6th.
